2 Government announcements have been made this morning in relation to Coronavirus which may affect businesses and their employees.
The government announced that a new law will come in to place that will ensure that furloughed employees receive statutory redundancy pay based on their normal wages, rather than a reduced furlough rate. It will also apply to statutory notice pay and other entitlements. We await further legislation on this area. What redundancy rates have you been paying for your furloughed workers?
The UK’s four chief medical officers say that people who display symptoms of coronavirus or have a positive test result must self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days. This is an increase from 7 days advised previously.
